EWMBA eZine - Week of June 12, 2008

Speakers Needed!

The Haas EWMBA Association is planning an end-of-the-year party on June 22 at Haas.

We plan to have 2 Haas student speakers and 2 faculty lecturers giving students and families talks in the morning session (10AM-12PM) to enrich this event. The 20-minute student talk can be on any business-related subject that has some impact on work and life. Topics can include how to launch a startup or the pricing strategy behind a given product or service etc.

It is a great opportunity to demonstrate the advantage of the EWMBA program and to promote an atmosphere of sharing and learning from each other. However, the success of this event is largely dependent on you. If you are willing to be a volunteer speaker, please send a topic and abstract to josh_han@mba.berkeley.edu

The 2-hour session is divided into

1) 2 faculty lectures
Each 40-minute lecture is 30-minute presentation plus 10-minute QA.

2) 2 student lectures
Each 20-minute lecture is 15-min presentation plus 5-minute QA.

The Haas Evening Weekend MBA Program Office and EWMBA Association invite you
and your family to join us for an end-of-year celebration.

Share the Berkeley MBA experience with your family, by hosting them in school for a day. Welcome them to our classrooms for specials sessions with a couple of our "super-star" lecturers. We'll also have kid-friendly activities (such as jump-houses and face-painting) and family-friendly entertainment managed by our interesting fellow-students.

In the spirit of Berkeley, we'll also have a raffle with proceeds going to American Red Cross for recent disaster victims. Many thanks to our growing list of generous sponsors (led by The Coca Cola Company, E&J Gallo Winery and The Gap Inc.) for making this possible.

So join us for this unique opportunity to share a slice of the Berkeley MBA experience. Lunch will be provided, and drinks served. No alcohol will be served to minors.

We expect about 200-300 friends and families, as well as alumni, to be with us – so RSVP for your space via evite: http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/YHTOFEOFCOYZGEKAZCIJ/08eoyp

Most job postings for non-technical positions call for candidates with excellent communications skills. You can start building up yours by paying attention to the use of articles in written English. Articles are words like “the”, “a” and “an”.
You really have to pay attention here as Microsoft Word does not usually highlight article-related mistakes.
