Financial Aid Deadline to Borrow Loans for this Fall Semester 2009

Did you know you may be able to borrow additional loan funds during the academic year, if you have not already borrowed up to the Cost of Attendance? The recommended deadline to process loan funds for this fall semester is Thursday December 10, 2009. If loan processing is not completed by the 10th, it is unlikely that additional funds will disburse before the winter shutdown. Loan disbursements are split evenly between the two semesters. The deadline to borrow additional funds for spring semester is April 15, 2010.

Please review your award summary in the Financial Aid section in BearFacts to ensure all anticipated fall semester Federal Loans or private loans are listed as paid. You may need to complete supplemental steps if the loan funds have not paid. Refer to the financial aid website for more details. (Please note, institutional loans, and some non-loan funds such as VA Benefits will only appear as accepted even if they have paid.)
For further information please contact us at finaid@haas.berkeley.edu or check out our website: http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/EWMBA/finaid/index.html

What’s happening at Haas?

What does the outside world need to know about us? What have your classmates and professors done that has been most impressive, most important to your experience, and most important to the future of the school? Who makes you think, “THAT is Haas!”

Whether organizing cutting edge conferences, building community, or helping major school initiatives shine, Berkeley MBA students find innumerable ways every year to lead through innovation. Every year we attempt to capture a representative sampling of those accomplishments in Making it Happen at Haas, AKA, the Haas Achievement Book.

This year, we’d like you to tell us just what and who should be in the book. We are already building an extensive list of stories to feature--and we’d like to add some of your suggestions to the mix. Watch your e-mail and the MBA Lounge the week of November 30 for more info!

Wal-Mart has been both lauded for its leadership in implementing socially responsible business solutions and questioned for the motives behind its actions. It is indisputable, however, that when the world's largest retailer makes seemingly small changes, like promoting the sale of fluorescent lightbulbs in its stores, the positive impact is enormous--a reduction of over 28 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year.

Please join a conversation with Wal-Mart's Chief Administrative Officer, where he will share stories about how leading responsibly has helped to positively transform Wal-Mart and consequently has made a broader contribution to society.
