Dr. Seuss’ Birthday

In honor of Dr. Suess’ Birthday, we are publishing one of his lost works:

I Love My Job

I love my job, I love the pay. I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss; he/she is the best. I love his boss and all the rest.

I love my office and its location. I hate to have to go on vacation.
I love my furniture, drab and gray, And the paper that piles up every day.

I love my chair in my padded cell. There's nothing else I love so well.
I love to work among my peers. I love their leers and jeers and sneers.

I love my computer and its software; I hug it often though it don't care.
I love each program and every file, I try to understand once in a while.

I'm happy to be here, I am, I am; I'm the happiest slave of my Uncle Sam.
I love this work; I love these chores. I love the meetings with deadly bores.

I love my job-I'll say it again. I even love these friendly men,
These men who've come to visit today - In lovely white coats to take me away.

EVENTS

Berkeley Entrepreneurs Forum: Earth, Wind & Fire: The Clean Tech Opportunity Today

Date: Thursday, February 26
Time:
6:30 - 8:30 pm

Location: Andersen Auditorium
Student Admission to the Forum is Free!

Some of the best opportunities arise in the worst times. While financing of technology and bioscience struggle, alternative energy investment flourishes - at least relatively. The new administration has identified alternative energy as a national priority, and has designated our own Steven Chu, director of Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, as Secretary of Energy. Developing alternative energy technologies melds established and cutting edge technologies, allies heavy industry, science, information technology and government, and requires a new paradigm for investment, including combinations of angel capital, debt, government grants and loan guarantees. It's a whole new world of earth, wind and fire!

Please join us for a panel discussion of the opportunities and challenges facing entrepreneurs and investors in geothermal, wind and biofuels.

Our distinguished panel includes:

· Dr. Chris Sommerville, Director- Energy Biosciences Institute

· Jon Bonanno, Co-Founder/Chairman/President- Principle Power

· Richard Chow, Interim President- ThermaSource

· Susan Preston, General Partner- CalCEF Angel Fund

Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Time: 6:30-8:30pm

Location: Wells Fargo Room- Haas School of Business

De Novo Ventures will lead a session designed to illustrate what is required to make a successful pitch to venture capitalists.

The audience will be asked to participate as potential investors - evaluating a potential deal as a founder pitches his idea in a real time, role-play scenario. This will be based on an actual medical technology proposal. The session is designed to be highly interactive and will allow you to ask questions about what really goes on as venture capitalists listen to a pitch. You will discover what the hidden agendas are in the questions they routinely ask of first time founders and their teams. We promise you will come away with a different perspective on venture capitalists, and a better understanding of how to deal with the process before, during and after the pitch.

FEATURED SPEAKERS:

· David M. Mauney, M.D., Co-Founder- De Novo Ventures

· Jay Watkins, Managing Director- De Novo Ventures

· Zachary Edmonds, Consultant- De Novo Ventures
