General Management & Strategy Club

Eugene and Lauren are the new co-presidents of the General Management & Strategy club. In order to better serve EWMBA students, the club is looking for an Evening/Weekend Liaison.

The responsibilities of the position would be to involve part-time MBA students (EWMBA + BCMBA) by:
- soliciting their input about how the club can better serve them
- being a voice for them in the club
- connecting with EWMBA Association, Alumni Relations Council, Career Services and other organizations at Haas
- driving club membership among them
- encouraging them to utilize their professional connections to help organize club events when applicable

Is it possible for China to go big and go green at the same time?- How can international collaboration be more effective in climate change talks?- Why has JUCCCE become a leading energy non-profit organization in China in a short year and a half?- What international clean tech volunteer opportunities are there with JUCCCE?Speaker Peggy Liu is the Chairperson of JUCCCE. She was named one of Time Magazine' s 2008 Environmental Heroes. Peggy was an advisor to the Clinton Global Initiative 2008 Energy & Climate Change working group. Most recently, Peggy was COO of Mustang Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund in Shanghai, China. Peggy, an active alumna of MIT, created the MIT Forum on the Future of Energy in China from which JUCCCE was formed. In the 1990's Peggy was known as an Internet executive and pioneer in Silicon Valley. Peggy has a B.S. from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. She has been in non-profit leadership positions for most of her life.

The Joint US-China Cooperation on Clean Energy (JUCCCE) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to accelerate the greening of China through international collaboration on impactful programs. Google's Enterprise Sales Organization

In this second event organized by the Haas Sales Club, Michael Lock, Director of North American Sales for Google Enterprise, will provide insight into Google's sales organization and will share with us key learnings from his 20 years of industry experience. Michael will focus on addressing the following topics:

What does a typical deal lifecycle look like? What Google resources are involved and at what stages of the process?

Presenter Bio:
Michael Lock is a 20 year veteran of the Enterprise Information Technology industry. Michael spent the formative part of his career in the 1980s with IBM. In the 1990s Michael was a sales and marketing executive at Oracle Corporation and then spent the early 2000's with several Silicon Valley startups including video search pioneer Virage. Michael joined Google in 2005 and currently runs the Americas Sales and Operations for Google Enterprise, a rapidly growing business unit focused on bringing Google technologies to corporations, governments and educational institutions.

Michael holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. He was born and raised just outside Toronto and has spent the last 12 years living and working in Silicon Valley. Michael has been married for 15 years to his wife Beverly and has 3 children Jason 12, Rachel 9, Steven 3. Michael is active in Youth sports and can be rightfully characterized as a 'baseball nut'. He coaches Little League and youth softball.

2009 UC Berkeley Energy Symposium

The third annual UC Berkeley Energy Symposium – "Bold Ideas for a New Energy Landscape" – will explore the cutting edge science, policy and business ideas that will craft the future energy landscape in America.
