The South Bay Chapter of the Haas Alumni Network is proud to present . . .
The Real Estate Bubble and Credit Bubble, What Happened and What is the Outlook Ahead?

During our last Real Estate event with Nancy Wallace, April 2008, she warned us about further increases in foreclosures and about the risks with Collateralized Debt Obligations (CDOs and CMOs) and with Credit Default Swaps (CDS). This was several months before CDS became an uncomfortably familiar term in the media.

We hope you will join us for what is sure to be a very informative and insightful discussion on the Real Estate and Credit Bubble, what happened, the risks and opportunities in the current market and the outlook ahead. This event has consistently been one of the most appreciated by our alumni.

Dr. Nancy Wallace is Professor of Real Estate and Co-Chair of the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. She is widely recognized as an expert on the valuation of both residential and commercial mortgages and properties and has published extensively on these subjects.

EWMBA eZine - Week of June 4, 2009

A message from your editors:

Summer’s finally here! Hopefully you are enjoying the breather.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support these past few weeks and months. We’re explicitly looking for comments, suggestions or concerns on two subjects:

a) What content would you like to see added to the eZine?

b) We’re attempting to migrate eZine to an automated setup with online submissions of events and announcements instead of the current manual process. In this context we’re looking for in-house expertise (yup, that’s you!) with open source applications which can be used for web-based submission and a back-end database for storing the content. If this is your area of interest, we’ll appreciate any pointers you could provide!

Feel free to drop us a note if you have any thoughts on either of the above.

- Divyang Agrawal (divyang_agrawal@mba.berkeley.edu) and Ramon Lim (ramon_lim@mba.berkeley.edu)
